Apps Market - Carbon Emissions App

Last Updated: Mar 29, 2017 04:42PM CEST
Do you want to know how big is the impact that you are causing in the environment?
With this app you will be able to report your Carbon footprint by tracking up to 9 different Carbon and Greenhouse Gas Emissions related variables (Methane, Nitrous Oxide...) from all your energy sources, and export the results to an Excel spreadsheet.

Getting started : Configuration

Note : To start configuring your carbon emissions, you should be superAdmin or Admin. Otherwise, you should contact with the administrator of your account.

First of all, let's go to Settings --> Carbon Emissions. There, you must create new Carbon Emissions conversion factors.

In this screen, you have to define all the Carbon Conversion Factors that you are going to apply to the desired emission types and the energy source that you wish to track (in this case, electricity).
As introduced before, there are many Emission types to choose (all listed in the picture below).

Once you choose the Energy Source, you can add as many Emission types and Conversion factors' periods as you need. For example, it's usual that for each Emission type the Conversion factor changes year to year, so you have the option to reflect that in the configuration (and edit it in the future whenever you want).

In the following picture, you can see:

1. The period in which the Value 2 is valid.
2. Value of the Carbon Conversion Factor
3. The option of adding new periods with other Carbon Conversion Factors to the same Emission type
4. The option of adding new emission types for the same Energy Source

Once you have this configured, you have to assign these Carbon Emissions to the devices that you want in the Locations where they are assigned. To do this, you have to go to Settings --> Locations and choose the desired location.

You will see that a new tab will have appeared called Assign carbon emission factors. Once you click on it, you will see:

1. Available devices in the location
2. Carbon Emission previously created

To assign the Location's devices to each Carbon Emission, you just have to drag and drop from
1 to 2.

Recalculation

Once everything is set up, the next step is to recalculate the values for the Carbon emissions for the period that you desire.
To do that, you will have to go back to Settings --> Carbon Emissions and click on Recalculation. You will see then a screen like the picture below.

Here, you will have to select the devices for which you want to recalculate the Carbon Emissions and the period for which you want to do it.

Once you do this, you will have to accept the DPs generated by the App for each emission type in the gateway of each device (settings --> gateways --> devices

Note : Is important to know that the values are calculated once a day, at 3am in the morning.

Analysis screen

Finally, the only thing that's left is to take a look at those Carbon Emissions! To do that, let's go to Analysis --> Carbon emissions.

This screen is similar to the Consumption screen, you can see here for each Energy source and Emission type the devices that have data in a certain period and with 3 available frequencies: daily, weekly and monthly.

Also, as it can be seen in the picture above, you can have the option of exporting the data to an Excel spreadsheet.

Besides this, in the same screen you can see a table with the Total, Average, Median, Max and Min emissions.
